The finish photographs neutrally in daylight and under flash. Across a day it ages gracefully as well. When oil comes through, a natural base drifts toward dewy instead of breaking apart the way matte can. It never turns greasy the way a heavily emollient base will.

What you give up is correction. Skin that shines by noon will still shine, and skin that looks dull will still look dull, because this finish reports skin condition rather than changing it. Preparation decides the outcome: exfoliation, hydration and sunscreen underneath shape the final look far more than the foundation does. Anyone who wants a base to solve one specific problem will get more from matte or dewy.
