What to know about Structured Tote
A structured tote keeps its rectangle whether you fill it or not. Stiffeners in the side panels, a rigid board in the base and a full lining do that work, so the bag stands on the floor without leaning into your leg.
That skeleton changes how the bag behaves once you use it. Contents stay stacked upright instead of sliding into a heap, a laptop travels flat against a side panel. The mouth stays a fixed rectangle you can see into. You pay in weight: two to three pounds empty is normal here, where a soft bag of the same size stays under one. Metal feet on the base add a little more, and they are what keeps the bottom off wet ground.
