What to know about Magnetic Wireless Power Bank
A magnetic wireless power bank combines a ring of magnets with an induction coil and a small lithium pack, so it clamps to the back of a compatible phone and charges without a cable while you keep using the handset. The magnetic alignment exists to solve the main weakness of flat wireless charging, which is that a coil offset by 5 mm loses a large share of its transfer. Under the Qi2 standard, set by an industry consortium, the magnetic profile delivers 15 W and a newer tier reaches 25 W.
Efficiency is the cost. A wired Power Bank returns 60 to 70 percent of its printed capacity. Going through a coil takes that down to roughly 45 to 55 percent, so a 10,000 mAh magnetic bank realistically gives a 5,000 mAh phone about one full charge and a little more. The lost energy becomes heat, sandwiched between two batteries, and heat is the single biggest accelerant of capacity loss in a phone. Nearly all of these banks also carry a USB-C port, and using it is both faster and cooler.
Capacity is limited by what will stay attached. Most models run 5,000 to 10,000 mAh and 120 to 250 g, because a heavier pack peels off the phone in a pocket. Compared with a standard Power Bank, this style buys the freedom to walk around holding a charging phone and gives back energy, capacity and money. Compared with a Wireless Charging Pad, it moves with you rather than owning a spot on a table.
Alignment and case thickness decide whether it works. Cases thicker than about 3 mm, or any case without a matching magnet ring, weaken the hold until the bank slides off. Metal card holders, popsockets and thick leather all interfere. Check whether the bank supports the 15 W magnetic profile or only the 7.5 W baseline, since the difference is nearly two hours on a full charge, and look for a stated safety listing rather than a generic logo.
Pull it off once the phone reaches about 80 percent instead of leaving both packs hot together. Keep the magnet face clean, because grit trapped between the two surfaces scratches a phone back permanently. Store it at half charge like any lithium pack, and keep the magnets away from hotel key cards and older bank cards with magnetic stripes.
