Fresh

Fresh gathers three related characters. Aquatic scents are built on calone, the synthetic molecule behind the marine accord of the 1990s. Green scents draw from galbanum, violet leaf and cut grass. Clean scents use white musks, the same family of materials used in laundry detergent. What connects them is the impression of air and water rather than of any particular plant.

Closeness is a design choice, not a failure. Many fresh fragrances are built as skin scents, meaning they read within arm's length and never fill a room. That is precisely why they pass in offices, clinics and gyms where heavier families draw complaints. Wear time usually lands between three and five hours, since the molecules doing the work are light.

Two drawbacks come with the design. White musks are among the first materials your nose stops registering, an effect called olfactory fatigue. You can lose track of your own fragrance within 20 minutes and keep spraying while everyone else smells all of it. Ask someone else rather than adding sprays. Memorability is the second cost. A fresh scent is the safest gift and the least likely to be recognized as yours. That clean musk base is shared across hundreds of bottles.
