Body Sunscreen (Sun Care)

Body sunscreen is the volume format, sold in 150 to 500 milliliter bottles because one adult in swimwear needs about 30 milliliters per application to reach the 2 milligrams per square centimeter that SPF testing assumes. That single figure reorganizes the whole product. Nobody is going to spend face sunscreen money at that rate, so these formulas focus on spread, grip in water and cost per milliliter over invisibility.

Construction runs to sturdier emulsions with higher oil phases and film formers that resist water and sweat, which is where the water resistance rating comes from. Forty minutes or eighty minutes are the only two claims allowed, they describe time spent in water, and neither survives a towel. Lotions remain the format you can measure and see. Gel and dry touch versions cut the greasy feel that makes sand stick, and they tend to rub off sooner on shoulders under a bag strap.

Sunscreen Spray reaches backs and hairy legs that lotion cannot, but it defeats measurement. The arrangement is lotion first and spray as a second pass. Beach days, hiking, cycling, gardening, boat trips and anything on snow all want this. Water and snow bounce light back up, so the undersides of your chin, nose and arms burn on days you thought were covered. Families should size the purchase honestly: four people reapplying every two hours through a beach day can go through most of a 400 milliliter bottle.

Check the water resistance figure before the SPF number if swimming is on the agenda, and check the cap seals, since sand in a flip top ruins a bottle for the rest of a trip. Apply 15 minutes before you go out, cover the places everybody misses, which means the hairline part, the back of the neck, the ears and the tops of the feet, then reset every two hours and immediately after drying off.
