Women's T-Shirt Bra
Molded foam cups leave no seam on the surface, so nothing prints through a fitted knit top.
Also called: seamless bra, molded cup bra, smooth cup bra, invisible bra
The basics
What to know about Women's T-Shirt Bra
One piece of foam, pressed over a heated form into a fixed dome, gives this bra its whole reason to exist. Nothing sits on the outside surface: no stitch line, no lace, no join anywhere a thin knit could read. Foam runs roughly an eighth of an inch through the middle of the cup and thins toward the rim so it fades into skin instead of stopping at a ridge.
Pressing sets that shape permanently, which cuts both ways. The dome keeps its form whether or not your breast fills it. It either matches you closely or leaves an air pocket, and no amount of strap tension closes that pocket. Most versions keep a wire, and the wire here is positioning rather than lifting: it pins the fixed cup against your ribs so the dome sits where your breast actually is. Because that foam layer is thin and supports almost nothing on its own, the band carries an unusually large share of the weight. A wide band with three hook rows is worth more to you than any feature printed on the tag.
Full Coverage builds its cup from three sewn panels and continues up over the top of the breast, holding far more weight while printing a seam under exactly the tops this bra exists for. Wireless drops the wire and steers soft tissue with seams instead, which suits more shapes and reads lower and rounder. Push-Up shares the molding and loads all its foam into the bottom of the cup, so the two feel nothing alike on. Balconette cuts a straight line across the top of the breast. That straight line is the most visible edge there is under thin jersey. Bralette sizing gives that one away, selling in small, medium and large with no structured base under the cup. Smoothness is the single job this bra takes on, and every neighbor above beats it at something in exchange.
Fitted knits, jersey dresses, pale blouses and uniform shirts are the wardrobe this answers. Cups to about a DD stay smooth on a thin foam layer, while above that the foam has to thicken to hold the dome and the padding itself becomes visible bulk. Breasts that are shallow at the top gap inside the dome and usually want one cup letter down rather than a tighter band. Hot weather is where it disappoints, since closed foam holds heat against skin in a way a two-layer seamed cup does not.
With the bra on, press gently along the whole top edge of each cup: fabric that dents inward means the cup is too large, and flesh riding above it means the opposite. Foam edges should thin out rather than end square, because a squared rim draws a line of its own and defeats the point of buying one. Store these stacked facing the same direction and never folded cup into cup, since a crease pressed into foam stays there. Retire one once a cup holds a dent after washing, as a dented dome shows through a t-shirt far more clearly than a seam ever did.
Best for
When to choose this style
- Fitted knits and jersey dresses show nothing, because no seam sits on the outside to print.
- Uniform shirts and pale blouses hide it completely, which is why most people own one.
- Cups to about a DD stay smooth on a thin foam layer, above which the padding turns into bulk.
- Everyday wear suits the fixed dome, as its shape holds all day with no adjusting.

Women's T-Shirt Bra vs similar bras
Wireless
Support comes from a firm band and shaped seams rather than a metal wire under the cup.
Push-Up
Angled pads sit under and outside the breast to lift it up and push it toward the center.
Balconette & Demi
Cups are cut straight across near the top of the breast, with straps set wide at the outer edge.
