Fit is the honest weakness, in the mechanical sense. Cases usually must come off, camera bumps sit awkwardly against clamp pads, and a phone released mid grip has a hard meeting with the floor. Telescopic rails also carry spring tension that wears, so a two year old unit may grip a shade looser than it did new.

Confirm your exact phone model against the maker fit list, check that the USB-C plug sits centered rather than offset, and prefer a unit with its own headphone jack or passthrough charging if sessions run long. Firmware updates through the companion app fix mapping bugs, so run one before judging a misbehaving unit.
