Electrodes crack when they knock a tap or a tiled edge, and a cracked one goes in the trash rather than back into the handle, because a broken seal changes how the current behaves and leaves a sharp edge pointed at your face. Clean the glass with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol before and after each use, let it dry completely before it goes near the handle, and store it in the foam cutout it arrived in rather than loose in a drawer.
