Stroller Caddy (Diaper Bags)

A stroller caddy is a shallow open topped box, roughly 15 by 5 by 5 inches, that straps across a stroller handlebar and stays put. Two hook and loop straps hold it there, a zipped compartment in the middle takes a phone, keys and a wallet. An insulated well at each end holds a bottle or a cup. Carrying it is not part of the design, which is what makes it different from everything else here.

Fixing storage to the handlebar puts the things you touch every few minutes inside arm's reach, so you stop stopping. Physics sets the limit on how much goes in. Weight on a handlebar acts through a long lever above the rear wheels, and a stroller with the seat empty tips backward under as little as 5 pounds, making the load limit printed on your frame more important than the volume of the caddy. Unload it before you lift the child out, every single time.

Measured against the carried bags in this family, a caddy replaces none of them. A diaper backpack or a diaper tote still holds the diapers, the spare clothes and the feed. What this removes is the constant reaching into that bag for a phone or a water bottle. Pair one with a diaper clutch and a small backpack and a park morning is covered without much on your shoulders at all.

Daily walkers get the most out of it: school runs, park loops, city blocks where you push rather than drive. Anyone pushing with a second child on a buggy board benefits, since both hands stay on the bar. Folding the stroller into a trunk several times a day argues against it, because most caddies have to come off first. Check your own frame before buying, as some handlebars curve too sharply for a rigid caddy to sit flat.

Take a tape to the stroller and measure the bar, since straps are cut for bars around 0.8 to 1.5 inches across and a padded or oversized bar defeats them. Cup wells want to be 3 to 3.5 inches across so a baby bottle and a takeout cup both drop in. Wipe the wells out weekly, because milk runs down the outside of a bottle and dries in the bottom of an insulated well where you never see it.
